A Statement from ETC
Dear ETC Friends,
As most of you know, due to the coronavirus we had to postpone our April production of American Son, a play that was written in the shadow of the death of Eric Garner and which dramatizes the intersection of racism and the police. The last line of the play is “I can’t breathe.” In the wake of the recent death of George Floyd, I lamented to a friend that our production would have been “of the moment.” He reminded me that, sadly, the story would always be “of the moment. It’s been going on since 1619.”
